St. George’s School announces coaching staff

Earlier today, the returning Head of Hockey for St. George’s School, Todd Harkins, announced the coaching staff for the 2020-21 season and his second year leading our four-team program.

Tyler Kuntz, well known in the BC hockey community, is the Head Coach of the U18 Prep Team. Kuntz joins St. George鈥檚 after spending the past two seasons as the General Manager and Head Coach of the BCHL鈥檚 Powell River Kings.

“The opportunity to work with great people at a prestigious academic institution, while being with my family, was too good to pass up,鈥 said Kuntz. 听鈥淚 look forward to a great season of coaching and developing a hardworking and committed group of young, talented players with the goal of getting them to the next level.鈥

Kuntz was an Assistant Coach with the WHL鈥檚 Vancouver Giants for two seasons from 2015-17, and was Head Coach of the UBC Thunderbirds Varsity Men鈥檚 Hockey Team in 2014-15, after spending four years as the team鈥檚 assistant coach the preceding seasons.

Josh Bonar is the Head Coach of the U17 Prep Team. 听Josh joins St. George鈥檚 after spending the three previous seasons as the Head Coach of the BWC Academy’s听U16 Prep听team. He is joined on the bench by Assistant Coach and Saints鈥 alumnus, Naeem Bardai, who has been with the Hockey Program since its inception more than three years ago.

“I am thrilled for the opportunity to join St. George鈥檚 and contribute to the vision they have for the hockey program,鈥 said Bonar. 鈥淚 am looking forward to a season focused on player and character development, team success, and a fun atmosphere.”

Harkins returns as the Head Coach of the U15 Prep team. Harkins will again be joined on the bench by Assistant Coach and son, Nicklas Harkins.

Mitch Fyffe is the Head Coach of the U15 team. 听Fyffe has been an Associate Coach for the past three seasons at the BWC Academy. 听He is joined on the bench by Assistant Coach, Cole Todd, returning for his second year.

“I am excited to step into a role where I can share my passion for the game of hockey with the young student-athletes at a school with such a great culture and tradition.鈥 said Fyffe.
