Four 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) alumni have been selected to represent Team Canada at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship.

The 10 team tournament will take place December 26-Jan. 5 in Ottawa, ON. Four CSSHL alumni will represent Team Canada at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championships.

The four CSSHL alumni selected to represent Team Canada are:

  • Carson Bjarnason – Brandon Wheat Kings/WHL (RHA Winnipeg)
  • Gavin McKenna – Medicine Hat Tigers/WHL (RHA Kelowna/South Alberta Hockey Academy)
  • Tanner Molendyk – Saskatoon Blades/WHL (Yale Hockey Academy)
  • Sawyer Mynio – Seattle Thunderbirds/WHL (Yale Hockey Academy)

A first round pick by the Nashville Predators at the 2023 NHL Draft, Molendyk is one of five returning players who represented Canada at the 2024 World Juniors. Bjarnason will represent Team Canada for the third time. The 2023 2nd round NHL Pick by the Philadelphia Flyers won gold at the 2023 Hlinka Gretzky Cup and Bronze at the 2023 U18 World Championships.

McKenna, who is expected to be the first overall pick at the 2026 NHL Draft, has won gold for Canada at the 2024 IIHF U18 World Championships and the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup. This will be the first time Mynio, a Vancouver Canucks 2023 third round pick, represents Team Canada on the international stage.

The 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship begins on Boxing Day with Canada kicking off its tournament schedule against Finland, while the United States will play Germany. The two teams will meet on Dec. 31 to wrap up preliminary-round action. The knock-out round will begin with the quarter-finals on January 2.

The Vancouver Canucks have hired former West Van Academy and BWC Academy coach Jason Krog as a Skating and Skills Coach ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Krog will work with in the Canucks organization both in Vancouver, and with their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate in Abbotsford.

A veteran of over 200 NHL games, Krog joined West Van Academy, now the North Shore Warriors, as head coach of their U15 team for the 2019/20 season. That season he would lead West Van to a 28-2-0 record and their second straight CSSHL U15 Western Championship.

He would join BWC Academy for three seasons at the U15 and U15 Prep level, working in both the head coach and assistant coach role. This past season, while still with BWC Academy, he would join Simon Fraser University of the BCIHL as a Hockey Advisor.

Krog replaces former CSSHL coach Yogi Svejkovsky, who was promoted by the Canucks to an Assistant Coach role last week.聽

The Vancouver Canucks have promoted former 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) coach Yogi Svejkovsky to assistant coach ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Svejkovskyoined the Canucks organization in 2021/22 as a Skills Coach with their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks. He would spend the 2022/23 and 2023/24 season as a Skills Coach with the Canucks.

A veteran of 113 NHL games and 70 in the AHL, Svejkovsky joined Delta Hockey Academy as head coach in 2015/16 at the U15 Prep level. He would spend the 2016/17 season with the Delta Elite 15s (U16 Prep) as head coach before joining St. George’s for two seasons as a head coach and Head of Hockey Operations.

Svejkovsky would return to Delta in 2019/20 as their Lead Skills Coach & Director of Development as well as coaching their U17 Prep travel team. He would retain the same roles in 2020/21. After joining the Canucks in 2021/22, Svejkovsky has spent the past three seasons as a Guest Skills Coach with Delta.

Svejkovsky started his coaching career in 2006/07 as an assistant coach with the Vancouver Giants in the Western Hockey League (WHL). He would transition into a skills coach for two seasons with the Giants, the last of which was his first year at Delta.

Former Yale Hockey Academy student-athletes Parker Bell and Sawyer Mynio have signed NHL Entry Level Contracts.

Bell spent the 2017/18 U15 Prep season in the CSSHL with the Yale U15 Prep team, In 20 games the Estevan, SK forward recorded 3 goals and 7 assists leading to the Tri-City Americans selecting him in the fifth round, 102nd overall at the 2018 Western Hockey League (WHL) Draft.

In 2019/20 Bell would join Tri-City, ultimately spending four seasons with the team, In 180 WHL games Bell tallied 44 goals and 76 assists. The Calgary Flames would select Bell in the fifth round, 155th overall at the 2022 NHL Draft.

A defenseman from Kamloops, BC, Mynio posted 23 points in 23 U15 Prep games during the 2019/20 CSSHL season. The Seattle Thunderbirds would go on to select him in the third round, 63rd overall at the 2020 WHL Draft.

Mynio has spent the last two seasons in the WHL with Seattle, recording 42 points ion 115 games while helping the team capture a 2022 WHL Championship. The Vancouver Canucks selected Mynio in the third round, 89th overall at the 2023 NHL Draft.

Former RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg student-athlete and current Vancouver Canucks NHL Draft Pick Daimon Gardner has committed to Clarkson University for the 2023/24 season.

Gardner spent the 2018/19 and 2019/20 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) seasons with RHA Winnipeg. The Eagle Lake, ON forward tallied 27 points in 29 U15 Prep games in 2018/19 while being selected in the eighth round, 162nd overall by the Kelowna Rockets at the 2019 Western Hockey League (WHL) Draft.

In 2019/20 Gardner would lead the RHA Winnipeg U16 Prep team in goals (34), assists (25) and points (59). His 34 goals ranked first among all U16 Prep skaters while his 59 points ranked fourth, earning him CSSHL U16 Prep MVP honours.

The Canucks selected Gardner in the fourth round, 112th overall at the 2022 NHL Draft.

Located in Potsdam, NY, Clarkson University is an NCAA Division I program competing in the ECAC Hockey Conference.

Former Edge School student-athlete Tristen Nielsen has signed a two-year NHL Entry Level Contract with the Vancouver Canucks.

The Fort St. John, BC forward has spent the past two seasons in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Abbotsford Canucks, the minor league affiliate for Vancouver. In 105 AHL games Nielsen has recorded 52 points, including 41 in 64 games this past season.

Prior to his time in the AHL Nielsen played five seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL) split between the Calgary Hitmen and Vancouver Giants. In 241 career WHL games Nielsen tallied 82 goals and 93 assists with a career high 65 points in 2019/20. Nielsen was originally selected by the Hitmen in the first round, 20th overall at the 2015 WHL Draft.

Nielsen played three seasons at Edge School, two of which were in the 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL). He joined the program in 2013/14, posting 47 points in 58 games. The following U15 Prep season he would record 25 points in 18 CSSHL games. His last season with Edge School was 2015/16 when he finished with 23 points in 22 U18 Prep games.

The Vancouver Canucks have signed former 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) student-athlete Akito Hirose to an NHL Entry Level Contract.

Hirose spent three years with Edge School, including two in the CSSHL. During the 2014/15 U16 Prep campaign Hirose would record 27 points in 30 games. The following season the Calgary, AB defenseman tallied 27 points in 31 games.

In 2016/17 he would join the Salmon Arm Silverbacks of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), recording 10 points in 44 games. The following two BCHL seasons Hirose would tally 61 points in 107 games.

Hirose would explode offensively in 2019/20, captaining Salmon Arm while producing 51 points in 57 games. His impressive season would see him earn BCHL First Team All-Star and BCHL Top Defenseman honours, while leading all BCHL defenseman in assists (42) and points (51).

The following season Hirose would join Minnesota State University, finishing with 15 points in 28 games while capturing NCAA (WCHA) All-Rookie Team, Rookie of the Year, and Third Team All-Star honours. Minnesota State University would also be crowned as NCAA (WCHA) Regular Season Champions.

In 2021/22 Hirose would tally 26 points in 38 games while Minnesota State University were named NCAA (CCHA) Champions.

This past season Hirose played in 38 NCAA games with Minnesota State University, tallying 27 points in 38 games. Hirose made his NHL debut with the Canucks on April 2 and has played two games with the team.
