The Red Deer Rebels have signed defensemen Owen Archer and Nolan Wolitski to WHL Scholarship and Development Agreements.

Archer, a Stony Plain, AB product, joined OHA Edmonton for the 2023/24 CSSHL U15 Prep season. In 12 games he would tally 7 assists. The Rebels selected Archer in the second round, 32nd overall at the 2025 WHL Draft.

Wolitski joined the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) for the 2023/24 U15 season, tallying 53 points in 25 games as he was named a CSSHL U15 Prairie Division First Team All-Star and U15 Top Defenseman. The St. Albert, AB product would add five points in five playoff games as NAX captured the 2024 CSSHL U15 Western Championship.

This past season he recorded 8 goals and 40 assists in 29 U15 Prep games with NAX as he was named a CSSHL U15 Prep Prairie Division Second Team All-Star. The Rebels would then select Wolitski with the seventh overall pick at the 2025 WHL Draft.

Former CSSHL student-athletes Diego Johnson and Nate Yellowaga have signed WHL Scholarship and Development Agreements with their respective teams.

Johnson spent three seasons in the CSSHL with Okanagan Hockey Academy (OHA). The Fort St. James, BC forward finished second on his U15 team with 24 goals and 48 points in 26 games during the 2019/20 season. The following U15 Prep season he would record 14 points in 10 games.

During the 2021/22 U17 Prep season with OHA Black he finished fourth in team scoring with 42 points in 32 games, leading to the Seattle Thunderbirds selecting him in the sixth round, 120th overall at the 2021 WHL Draft.

Johnson has signed with the Penticton Vees.

A defenseman from Calgary, AB, Yellowaga joined Edge School for the 2022/23 CSSHL U15 Prep season. He would tally 29 points in 29 games that year. The following U18 Prep campaign he would suit up for South Alberta Hockey Academy (SAHA), recording 25 points in 25 games.

Yellowaga has signed with the Red Deer Rebels after they selected him in the ninth round, 194th overall at the 2023 WHL Draft.

The Red Deer Rebels have signed former Prairie Hockey Academy student-athlete Dmitri Toporowski to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.

The Shrewsbury, Massachusetts defenseman joined Prairie for the 2022/23 U18 Prep season. In 31 CSSHL games he recorded 4 goals and 11 assists.

This season Toporowski played 18 SJHL games split between the Melfort Mustangs and La Ronge Ice Wolves, tallying 3 goals and 6 assists. He has since played four games in the WHL with the Rebels, posting one assist.

Toporowski was originally selected in the first round, 21st overall by the Prince Albert Raiders at the 2021 WHL US Prospect Draft.

A forward from Calgary, AB, Luke Jamieson joined Edge School for the 2022/23 U15 AAA season. In 27 games he would record 16 goals and 19 assists. This past season he would finish with 26 points in 27 U15 Prep games leading to the Rebels selecting him in the sixth round, 126th overall at the 2024 WHL Draft.

Nolan Schmidt joined OHA Edmonton for the 2021/22 U15 AAA season where he had 22 points in 28 games. The Edmonton, AB forward would record 11 points in 15 U15 Prep games the following year as the Rebels selected him in the 10th round, 216th overall at the 2023 WHL Draft. This past season Schmidt had 14 goals and 13 assists in 30 U18 Prep games.

The Utah Grizzlies have signed former Edge School student-athlete Craig Armstrong for the 2024/25 ECHL season.

Armstrong spent the 2018/19 U18 Prep season with Edge School recording 28 points in 29 games.

Selected in the first round, ninth overall by the Prince George Cougars at the 2018 WHL Draft, the Airdrie, AB forward joined the Cougars for three seasons starting in 2019/20. In 155 games with the Cougars Armstrong had 20 goals and 36 assists.

In 2022/23 he would join the Red Deer Rebels, tallying 11 goals and 23 assists in 65 games.

This season Armstrong joined Chicoutimi Sagueneens in the QMJHL. He would score 17 times and add 22 assists.

Former BWC Academy defenseman Mats Lindgren has signed an AHL Contract with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

The North Vancouver, BC defenseman joined the CSSHL for the 2018/19 U15 Prep season. In 27 games he would tally 26 points leading to the Kamloops Blazers selecting him ninth overall at the 2019 WHL Draft.

He would return to BWC Academy the following season, tallying 23 points in 31 U18 Prep games.

Lindgren would spend the next two seasons with the Kamloop Blazers, posting 54 points in 90 WHL games. At the end of the 2021/22 season the Buffalo Sabres would select Lindgren in the fourth round 106th overall at the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.

After a move to the Red Deer Rebels, Lindgren has recorded 75 points in 126 games the last two WHL seasons.

RHA Winnipeg student-athletes Graeme Pickering and Drayden Uhrina have signed Western Hockey League (WHL) Scholarship and Development Agreements with their respective WHL teams.

Selected in the first round, 15th overall by the Red Deer Rebels at the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft, Pickering joined RHA Winnipeg ahead of the 2023/24 U15 Prep season. The St. Adolphe, MB product finished second among all U15 Prep defensemen with 36 points while adding a team high 29 assists in 27 games.

In his first season in the CSSHL, Uhrina led the RHA Winnipeg U15 Prep team with 29 assists and 51 points in 25 games, good enough for sixth in league scoring. The Victoria Royals selected the Winnipeg, MB forward in the third round, 53rd overall at the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft.

During the month of March and the CSSHL Western and Eastern Championships, nine CSSHL student-athletes have signed Western Hockey League (WHL) Scholarship and Development Agreements with their respective clubs.

A forward from North Vancouver, BC, Kai Anderson has spent the last three seasons in the CSSHL with BWC Academy. In 28 games with BWC Academy Gold U17 Prep, Anderson tallied 29 points. Anderson has signed with the Lethbridge Hurricanes after originally being selected in the sixth round, 117th overall at the 2023 WHL Draft.

Calgary, AB defenseman David Byrne joined Edge School Gold for the 2023/24 U17 Prep season, recording 24 points in 30 games. Selected in the seventh round, 144th overall at the 2023 WHL Draft, Byrne has played three WHL games with the Tri-City Americans after signing with them earlier this month.

The Wenatchee Wild have signed Radislav Dimitrov and Grady Wedman. Dimitrov, an Edmonton, AB defenseman, had 20 points in 29 games with OHA Edmonton U18 Prep, his second season with the program. Wedman joined the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) Blue U17 Prep team this season, finishing with 25 points in 31 games. The Wild selected Dimitrov in the fifth round, 110th overall, and Wedman in the eighth round, 176th overall, at the 2023 WHL Draft.

Jake Henderson joined St. George’s School in 2021/22 before playing the last two seasons with Yale Hockey Academy. In 29 U18 Prep games this season the Burnaby, BC defenseman had 14 points. The Kelowna Rockets selected Henderson in the third round, 50th overall at the 2023 WHL Draft.

The Red Deer Rebels have signed forward Noah Milford and netminder Peyton Shore. The Rebels selected Shore in the fifth round, 100th overall, and Milford 50 picks later in the seventh round of the 2023 WHL Draft. Milford joined the Calgary International Hockey Academy (CIHA) U17 Prep team this season, tallying 46 points in 29 games while assisting on the overtime winner that gave CIHA their first ever CSSHL Western Championship. Shore has spent the last two seasons with RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg, playing for their U17 Prep team this season. The Winnipeg, MB netminder posted a 2.48GAA and .932SV% in 15 games this season.

After spending two seasons with the Yale Hockey Academy U15 Prep team, Brayden Ryan-Mackay joined South Alberta Hockey Academy’s (SAHA) U18 Prep team this season, finishing with 37 points in 30 games. The Medicine Hat Tigers selected the Calgary, AB forward in the sixth round, 119th overall at the 2023 WHL Draft.

A defenseman from Oak Bluff, MB, Daxon Yerex has played the last two seasons with RHA Winnipeg. In 30 U18 Prep games this season he recorded 16 points. Yerex made his WHL debut with the Swift Current Broncos, tallying one assist, earlier this month after being selected by them in the third round, 52nd overall at the 2023 WHL Draft.

Former CSSHL student-athletes Emmitt Finnie and Connor Ungar have signed NHL Entry Level Contracts.

Finnie spent three seasons in the CSSHL with Yale Hockey Academy. The Lethbridge, AB forward joined the program in 2018/19, playing for their U15, U15 Prep and U18 Prep team. In 65 total games he would record 51 goals and 56 assists. After being selected in the fourth round, 82nd overall at the 2020 WHL Draft by the Kamloops Blazers, Finnie would join the club in 2021/22, tallying 6 points in 48 games.

Last season he would finish with 35 points in 64 games which lead the Detroit Red Wings to select him in the seventh round of the 2023 NHL Draft. This season Finnie finished with 59 points in 62 WHL games with the Blazers.

A goaltender from Calgary, AB, Ungar joined the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) U16 Prep team in 2017/18, winning a CSSHL Western Championship that year. He would start the following season with the NAX U18 Prep team before splitting the second half of the year between the AJHL with the Okotoks Oilers, and the WHL with the Brandon Wheat Kings. Undrafted to the WHL, Ungar would bounce around between the Wheat Kings and the AJHL’s Whitecourt Wolverines for the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons.

Ungar would spend the entirety of the 2021/22 season in the WHL with the Red Deer Rebels before joining the Moose Jaw Warriors for the 2022/23 WHL season. He would finish his WHL career with a 2.57GAA, .917SV%, 3 shutouts and a 53-20-2 record in 87 total games.

This season Ungar joined Brock University where he was named a USports (OUA West) All-Rookie Team, First Team All-Star, Goaltender of the Year and Rookie of the Year after posting a 2.15GAA and .932SV% in 26 games. Ungar was undrafted to the NHL but has signed with the Edmonton Oilers.
