Former CSSHL student-athletes Otto Hanson and Brogan McNeil have signed in the Canadian Hockey League (CHL).

A forward from Calgary, AB, Hanson spent two season in the CSSHL with Edge School. He would join the program in 2020/21, recording six points in six U15 Prep games. The following U18 Prep season he would finish with 5 goals and 12 assists in 34 regular season games, before adding 2 points in 4 playoff games.

Hanson has signed with the Swift Current Broncos after they originally selected him in the second round, 45th overall at the 2021 WHL Draft. Hanson has played three games with the Broncos so far this season.

McNeil has signed with the Shawinigan Cataractes of the QMJHL after going undrafted to the league. The Delta, BC forward spent four seasons in the CSSHL with Delta Hockey Academy. He would begin with the program in 2019/20, tallying 14 points in 29 U15 games. He would spend the following season with the Delta Black U15 Prep team before joining their U17 Prep team in 2021/22, recording 31 points in 35 games. His last season in the CSSHL was in 2022/23 when he finished third in team scoring with 27 points in 32 U18 Prep games.

Four current or former CSSHL student-athletes have signed in the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) ahead of the roster deadlines.

Rafael Cloutier and Lynden Larsen have signed in the QMJHL, while Jackson Kostiuk and Ethan Merner have signed in the WHL.

Cloutier joined Bourget College ahead of the 2021/22 East U17 season. In 33 games the Pointe-Fortune, QC forward had 9 goals and 8 assists. The following East U18 season he would record 5 goals and 8 assists in 14 games with Bourget. The Clarkson University commit has signed with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, having recorded two points in three games so far this season.

A forward from Verdun, QC, Larsen has spent the 2024/25 CSSHL East U17 season with Selwyn House School recording a team best 11 assists and 16 points in 5 games. Larsen, who was selected in the fourth round, 63rd overall at the 2024 QMJHL Draft, has played six games with Acadie-Bathurst Titan, tallying two assists.

Selected in the 10th round, 216th overall by the Saskatoon Blades at the 2021 WHL Draft, Kostiuk has signed with the Prince Albert Raiders, recording one assist in two games. The East St. Paul. MB forward played three seasons in the CSSHL with RHA Winnipeg at the U15 Prep and U18 Prep levels. In 71 career CSSHL games he recorded 89 points, including 47 during the 2022/23 U18 Prep season. Kostiuk has spent the last two seasons in the MJHL with the Steinbach Pistons, tallying 34 points in 29 games this season before joining the Raiders.

Merner joined Okanagan Hockey Academy for the 2019/20 U15 Prep season, producing 12 points in 30 games. The Kelowna, BC forward would have three points in two U15 Prep games with Yale Hockey Academy the following season before recording 44 points in 32 U17 Prep games in 2021/22, leading to the Calgary Hitmen selecting him in the fourth round, 80th overall at the 2021 WHL Draft. Committed to NCAA program Merrimack College, Merner has signed with the Hitmen.

Former Ontario Hockey Academy (OHA) student-athlete Brayden Besner has signed in the QMJHL with Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.

A forward from South Glengarry, ON, Besner spent the 2022/23 CSSHL East U17 season with OHA. In 10 games he would record a division best 16 assists and 27 points while being named MVP. He would add three goals and one assist in four playoff games to help OHA capture the 2023 CSSHL U17 Eastern Championship.

Having played three games for them as an affiliate in 2022/23, Besner joined the Hawkesbury Hawks of the CCHL full-time in 2023/24. He would record 17 goals and 14 assists in 55 games while being named to the CCHL Academic All-Star Team, the CCHL All-Rookie Team and the CCHL High School Academic Player of the Year.

Originally selected by the Kitchener Rangers ninth overall at the 2023 OHL U18 Priority Selection Draft, Besner had 35 points in 26 games with the Hawks this season.

The CSSHL has announced the eight division winners of the December Player of the Month Award.

U15: Brody Antignani, Edge School

It was a dominant month for Antignani as he record a division best 9 goals and 19 points in just five games for Edge School. On the season the Calgary, AB forward leads all U15 skaters with 56 points and a 2.95 Pts/GP in 19 games played.

U15 Prep: Peter Banicevic, Delta Hockey Academy

Banicevic started the season with 23 points in 14 games before exploding for 15 points in 4 games in December, launching him from 30th to 13th in league scoring. His 15 points and 9 assists in December led the U15 Prep division. Now in his second CSSHL season, the Burnaby, BC forward has 74 points in 45 career games.

U17: Luke Edgehouse, Okanagan Hockey Academy

A defenseman from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Edgehouse led all skaters with 6 goals, 7 assists and 13 points in December. In his first season in the CSSHL he sits third among all defensemen with 25 points in 20 games.

U17 Prep: Sam Trnecka, STAR Academy

Trnecka went 2-0-0 with 1 shutout, a .959 SV% and 1.00 GAA in December for STAR. In his first CSSHL season the Issaquah, Washington netminder holds a 6-3-0 record with 2 shutouts, a 2.67 GAA and .915 SV%.

U18 Prep: Liam Ryan, Shawnigan Lake School

The St. John’s, NL netminder went 3-0-0 with 1 shutout, a 1.33 GAA and .959 SV%, allowing just 4 goals in wins over North Shore, Notre Dame and Indigenous Sports Academy. Having previously played for Shawnigan in 2022/23 and Stanstead College in 2023/24, Ryan is 8-3-0 with 2 shutouts, a .935 SV% and 2.37 GAA this season.

Female U18 Prep: Riley Cooper, OHA Edmonton

With three goals and five assists in four games, Cooper finished second among all Female U18 Prep skaters with eight points in December. A 2009 born forward from Edmonton, AB, Cooper sits tied for eighth in league scoring with 29 points. Her 10 goals, 19 assists and 29 points are all a team best.

Eastern U17: Alexis Lavoie, Stanstead College

Lavoie led all East U17 skaters with 5 goals, while his 10 points were second behind teammate and November POTM, Emanuel Ganz. In his first CSSHL season the 2009 born Sherbrooke, QC forward sits third in league scoring with 25 points in 13 games.

Eastern U18: Zachary Roussy, Bishops College School

Selected in the sixth round of the 2024 QMJHL Draft by the Gatineau Olympiques, Roussy had one goal and four assists in three games for Bishop’s. Now in his second CSSHL season, the Chambly, QC product leads all defensemen with 10 assists and a 1.44 Pts/GP, while his 13 points sits second, one off the division lead.

Former Mount Academy student-athlete Samuel Boisvert has signed in the QMJHL with Baie-Comeau Drakkar.

The Mirabel, QC forward joined Mount for the 2021/22 CSSHL East U18 season. In 25 games Boisvert had 14 goals and 10 assists. The following East U18 season he would have a team high 14 assists and 19 points in 7 games with Mount.

Committed to NCAA program the University of Connecticut,聽Boisvert is expected to make his QMJHL debut with Baie-Comeu on Saturday after originally going undrafted to the league.

36 former 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) student-athletes have been named to the NHL Preliminary Draft Rankings Watch List for the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.

Four players were given an ‘A’ Grade (First round Candidate), nine players were given a ‘B’ Grade (Indicates a 2nd/3rd round candidate), eight were given a ‘C’ Grade (Indicates a 4th/5th/6th round candidate), and 15 received a ‘W’ Grade (Indicates a 6th/7th round candidate.

The 36 CSSHL alumni are currently playing in the BCHL, MJHL, QMJHL, USA High-School and WHL. Of the 55 WHL players who find their names on the list, 55% (30/55) are CSSHL alumni.

TheMiramichi, NB defender played two games with Ontario Hockey Academy during the 2021/22 Eastern U17 season, tallying 1 assist. In 2023/24 he would suit up for the Champions Hockey Academy Eastern U17 team. In 13 games he would lead all defensemen with 7 goals 10 assists and 17 points to earn CSSHL Eastern U17 Top Defenseman and First Team All-Star honours.

Morrison was selected in the second round, 28th overall by the Remparts at the 2024 QMJHL Draft.

The Utah Grizzlies have signed former Edge School student-athlete Craig Armstrong for the 2024/25 ECHL season.

Armstrong spent the 2018/19 U18 Prep season with Edge School recording 28 points in 29 games.

Selected in the first round, ninth overall by the Prince George Cougars at the 2018 WHL Draft, the Airdrie, AB forward joined the Cougars for three seasons starting in 2019/20. In 155 games with the Cougars Armstrong had 20 goals and 36 assists.

In 2022/23 he would join the Red Deer Rebels, tallying 11 goals and 23 assists in 65 games.

This season Armstrong joined Chicoutimi Sagueneens in the QMJHL. He would score 17 times and add 22 assists.
